Lake Harriet is in southwest Minneapolis, MN. Surrounded by parkland, it is part of Minneapolis’ Chain of Lakes.
A popular recreation spot, visitors enjoy sailing, two beaches, and travel a system of bike and pedestrian trails. Part of the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway, it connects with Bde Maka Ska on the north end of Lake Harriet and with the Minnehaha Creek trail system at the southeast side of the lake. The gorgeous bandshell complex features music and movies throughout the summer months, a picnic area and a seasonal outdoor restaurant.
LHEC supports bicycle path safety, beach maintenance, clearing of invasive plants, addressing goose/human conflict, turtle protection and infrastructure maintenance – including the bandshell. Improving water quality remains an ongoing area of focus for the Council.
